Description

There are two Durango West subdivisions; Durango West I which is located South of Highway 160 and contains single wide mobile homes, double wide mobile homes, modulars and some on-site stick built homes; Durango West II, which is further detailed below, is located north of Highway 160 and contains only on site built homes. All of the streets are paved and maintained by the Durango West 1 Metropolitan District. There is a limited amount of greenbelt space in this project. The Westridge section is the newer section and does not allow any single wide mobile homes at all, just nicer modular homes as well as on-site stick built homes. This is a community with lots of kids and the school bus picks up the kids right at the entrance to the subdivision. With lots of kids present there are plenty of babysitters or opportunities for babysitting, if you have children of babysitting age. Elevation in the subdivision is about 1100 feet higher than the city of Durango which is located at 6512 feet above sea level; Durango West 1 is located about 7600 feet above sea level. As a gardener myself, this elevation makes it a little bit tough for getting lots of red tomatoes, but with some work it can be done. The monthly Metro District fee covers the costs of maintaining and plowing the streets inside the subdivision, the cost of maintaining the common areas, plus your water and sewer bill. Water is metered so your bill can vary depending on the amount of water used. Trash hauling is not included in the Metro District fee and you would need to contract for an independent company for those services.
