Description

Nice country subdivision located about 5 miles East of Bayfield and about 25 to 30 minute drive to Durango over paved and year-round maintained US Highway 160. Most of the subdivision is surrounded by San Juan national Forest and some of the roads actually go directly to a gate for access into the forest. There is quite a diversity of lots some having much more pasture land so you could have a horse and others that have a large percentage of Ponderosa pine trees. There are also those that are good mix of pine trees and meadow. You would need to drill your own water well and electric, as well as telephone, should be buried in the road in front of your lot. It would not be at all unusual to see deer or elk or wild turkey in the subdivision. Since San Juan National Forest is right at hand this makes a great choice for somebody who’s interested in “hunting right out my backdoor” or people that want to hike, bike, or snowmobile on the public lands. Bayfield, which is less than 5 miles away has its own grocery store, bank and several churches. For many people they would consider Deer Valley Estates and the Bayfield area to be a “bedroom community” for people working in Durango proper.
