Description

This subdivision, started in about 1992, is built on the land once owned by the famous Dalton Gang. This is a golf course community running along the Animas River and there are water hazards on nearly every hole. This is River bottom property with all of it being very flat. Some lots, of course, front on the golf course. Trimble Lane divides Dalton Ranch into a North parcel and South parcel. South Dalton was the first phase built and contains single family homes along with about 20 detached patio homes. In keeping with the Dalton Gang theme, one of the streets is named Horse Thief Lane. In the North portion of Dalton Ranch are many more condominiums and Townhomes. It also has a gated section of million-dollar plus homes. The streets are paved and there is central water and sewer. The Animas Valley Elementary School is within walking distance for school-age children.

Dalton Ranch golf course plays from four different tees so the course length varies between 5,500 yards to 7,000 yards. It is semi private and has a beautiful clubhouse with swimming pool, sports facility, locker rooms, tennis courts and dining. It is the # 8 ranked public golf course out of the top 10 public courses in Colorado as ranked by Golf Week. The course is a Ken Dye designed golf course and features undulating terrain and large pot type sand traps. I’ve killed many a fish on this golf course by hooking golf balls into the river. Kind of puts a different twist on the concept of catch and release. If you are a person looking for possible vacation rental property to own, then Dalton Ranch is certainly very good for that purpose. You get the benefits of summer rentals because people like to play golf; and you get the benefit in the winter of being halfway to the ski area.
