Description

La Plata County’s premier high-end development less than 2 miles from Durango Mountain Resort. I walked this 212 acre ranch about 30 years ago and determined that it was the most beautiful piece of property that I had ever seen in this County. The entire eastern border is the 3,000,000 acre San Juan National Forest so you have direct access for hiking or riding a horse or cross-country skiing right out your back door. Several of these lots offer views to the East of Electra Lake but all of them have the spectacular mountain views offered by the Needles Mountains… the gem of our mountain ranges here in Southwest Colorado. This property is so pretty that a conservation easement has been placed on much of the property so that no additional development can occur. There are beautiful grassy meadows and lots of Aspen trees as well as spruce trees. In the spring and fall of the year it would not be unusual to see herds of elk in the Meadow area and because of its proximity to Electra Lake. I’m sure that you’ll see numerous bald eagles, red tail hawks and even Falcons flying overhead. Most certainly, you would see bear and deer as well. These large home sites are scattered throughout the ranch affording maximum privacy to each homesite. This is a gated community and it has paved streets. Water is obtained by drilling your own private domestic well (although there is an area where there is central water, and all of Windom West has central water) and sewer is provided by installing your own individual septic system. Gas service would be by individual propane tank. Protective covenants, architectural guidelines and designated building envelopes help ensure that other homes will not be built in your view corridor. Windom Ranch is a designated Glacier Club community and, as such, the club will provide special membership opportunities into the Glacier Club. Most of these properties are second homes used as family retreats.
